Efficacy of Different Endodontic Irrigant Activation Systems on Smear Layer Removal and Canal Cleanliness: Comparative Scanning Electron Microscopic Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

AIM: This study assessed the effectiveness of 5 different irrigant activation systems on canal cleanliness and removal smear layer from root canals. METHODS: A total 110 mandibular premolars with straight were assigned to five groups (n = 20): conventional needle irrigation, passive ultrasonic activation, sonic EndoActivator, negative apical pressure EndoVac (EV), or EDDY system, besides a control group 10). All teeth prepared size 40, irrigated NaOCl (5.25%) according respective technique. Roots split longitudinally subjected scanning electron microscopic analysis. The presence debris was evaluated using 5-grade scoring ×1000 ×400 magnification, respectively. Data analyzed at 5%. RESULTS: Regarding layer, EV ED significantly more effective than other (p < 0.05). Activation improved CONCLUSION: No technique able eliminate completely canals, nevertheless, is better in removing third canal.

Effectiveness of different irrigation systems on smear layer removal: A scanning electron microscopic study

OBJECTIVES To evaluate effectiveness of the apical negative pressure irrigation (EndoVac), passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI), and conventional needle irrigation (CI) systems on smear layer (SR) removal. MATERIALS AND METHODS Sixty single-rooted canines were prepared using NiTi rotary files and subjected to different irrigation regimens: EndoVac with NaOCl (Group 1) or NaOCl/EDTA (Group 2); ...

Smear layer removal and canal cleanliness using different irrigation systems (EndoActivator, EndoVac, and passive ultrasonic irrigation): field emission scanning electron microscopic evaluation in an in vitro study.

INTRODUCTION The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of different irrigating methods in removing the smear layer at 1, 3, 5, and 8 mm from the apex of endodontic canals. METHODS Sixty-five extracted single-rooted human mandibular premolars were decoronated to a standardized length of 16 mm. Specimens were shaped to ProTaper F4 (Dentsply Maillefer, Ballaigues, Switzerland) ...
